Dear Parents and girls,
There will be a briefing for parents on the 24th January, Sunday, from 2-3pm at the basement chapel regarding our plan for Gift Bearers for the year 2010. It is highly encouraged that you attend this briefing. However, if you are unable to, please email Victoria at marie_oln@hotmail.com so that she can send the proposal for 2010 to you.

There will also be a sesion for all Gift Bearers on the 24th January, from 3-4pm at the Good Shepherd's Room. They will be required to bring their bibles. If they are unable to attend, please inform Victoria or their group leaders.

So sorry about the problems we've been having with the roster.
There's I think four people serving in 5.30pm Sunday mass, so there will be a lot of repeats, and for Ophelia and Clare Wong, We're giving three weeks 'break' from serving because of exams, so there'll be a few who will serve a lot of times in a row. We're really really sorry about that.
If you have any changes, let the Group Leader know one week before please.

Just some updates:

On the 30th August, we will be having a session and this would be compulsory!
You will be learning about the meaning of the mass, and would have a private tour of the sacristy and know what the priests are wearing and using and why.

Tomorrow, the altar boys will be having their yearly investiture, and we congratulate all the new boys being invested! =)

And a reminder:

Please remember to come 15 minutes before mass every time, even though you do not serve, to say the prayers with your group and right after mass to say the closing prayer!

Anyway, I've edited the roster -Caroline and Audrey, please take note. This is to ensure that everyone will giftbear as equally frequent as possible as well as do it on a regular basis, better than having cases of one having skipped serving for one month, which i personally think is not healthy- and quite a few of you have complained!

As Vicky mentioned in the previous post,
Don't be afraid to approach anyone of us to talk to us if you've got any problems or issues with school, church etc. Or just to come up to us and talk about casual stuff, day to day "gossip". I'm sure all the older "jie jie"'s will be more then welcome to join in your little chatters, we just basically want to get to know you guys more and be your friends.
With the holidays coming up, and the exams having ended (Hope you did well for those!) I encourage you guys to spend your free time talking and praying to our Lord. Just alittle prayer at the start and end of the day wouldn't hurt(:
Oh, Clare Tay will be leaving us on the 3rd of June to go and further her studies in the beautiful Australia, so we wish her all the very best(:(:

Hello Everyone!

This year, the youth are promoting their own groups and we are all encouraged to put up our personal testimonials of our groups on our very own blog. In view of how this blog has become one more of announcements, I would like everyone to take a different orientation to it so feel free to post up your feelings/ reflections of sessions/ the group. All you need to do, is to approach any of the committee members- that being Bel, Mariel, Clare Wong, Jaime Chng and I (Victoria) for the username and password. However, please be mindful not to exploit the blog- choose your words carefully and remember, no rubbish is to be put up here. I will be constantly checking the blog to see that it isn't misused. =)

So our very first testimonial is by Adele Chew( aged 10):

I joined the Gift Bearers' Society about a year ago when it first started.

We have regular Bible sharing sessions and we learn more about the Mass;

the meaning and importance of the Mass. And this makes my gift bearing

during Mass to serve the Lord more meaningful.

Everyone in the Gift Bearers' Society is very kind and helpful and I

thoroughly enjoy my time with them.

Oh yes! We welcome Jaime into the committee- her role in Gift Bearers would be taking care of the welfare of everyone. That means she will remember everyone birthdays and the whole group will celebrate the month's birthday girls together, if you are sad and want help, also approach Jaime and really anyone of us - just whoever you are comfortable with. =)

Change of Session times!!

Hey Everyone.

Basically, when we had the sessions at 2, a few Gift Bearers couldn't make it, and when we changed it to 1230 so that those Gift Bearers could come, others couldn't. (Ha ha!!)

SO! We're going to have sessions every two weeks, meaning one week have, the next don't have, week after that, have, and so on. But, starting from this week, it'll be at 1230pm, then 2pm, then 1230pm, then 2pm, and so on. :) If you've forgotten if or not there's session, or what time it's supposed to be, just ask your group leader.

So hope to see more of the Gift Bearers soon!!

Hello all!

I hope you are spending your holidays well.

This post is to request to all who are going away, to send in the dates when you would be away so that Audrey and Caroline can formulate the roster for next month, and for the joyous occasion, in which we celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Bible sharing, rosary devotions will come rolling in soon, so be ready, because the senior members of Gift Bearers have been liberated from the O levels! We hope to enlighten you during the holidays, and bring your closer to the group and to God himself (:

If you have nothing to do and is rotting away at home currently, you may like to do some research on what Gift-bearing actually means to the church, and how significant it is (even though how small a part it is) to mass itself, and to the church. You may not know what you may be actually carrying down the aisle during offertory, or feel that it is nothing much, but find out, and you might be inspired and feel lucky to have a chance of doing this.

If that is done, you may come up with some suggestions that you may like to see being done in the group, what you envision for the group, games, bible sharing, retreats, camps, or simply just some feedback. Some things you see that we as a group can improve on. (:

If your evenings are free and you feel God's calling, you may call me on my handphone and ask me to accompany you for daily mass, I'll be glad to keep you company (: If I am not able to make it, you may contact Bel, Estelle, Alex, Adele and Abigail- they may just be there because I see them often! And those who go, good for you! (:

This is for reference for those who have forgotten, or will forget, in time to come, about the changes for mass.

You go up at...
1. The end of intercessions.
Wait for the wardens to go, get cue from Altar boys.

You might be carrying...
1. A tray, with the Ciborium and a host-carrier(called a Pyx)
Older girls will carry this! Its heavy!

You'll stand behind....
1. The Wardens and the Altar Boys (FOR all the other masses)
2. The Wardens, the Altar Boys and the Children Lit reps. (for 10.45am mass)
Remember, other gifts always come first, we'll be the last. :)

IF the Altar Boys...
1. Don't come out because the torches are not working:
You go out without them.

2. Bow in front of the altar, and do not come down to your step,

Dear Parents and Gift Bearers,

This is to inform those who were not able to make it for the training yesterday, Sunday 31st August, that there will be a makeup session on the 5th September, Friday, straight after mass, from 7pm to 7.40pm. This is compulsory for all who did not attend the training yesterday.

For those who will not be back on Friday from their vacations, please attend mass half an hour before to allow your leaders to train you for the changes in the mass. Leaders, do turn up half an hour before and remind your girls to turn up.

For all those who have forgotten the changes, you may join us in Friday's training.

Changes would take place this coming week, the 6th and 7th September. Leaders, do remind your girls of the changes so that they will not go up earlier than required.

hello everyone.
this is to inform you that on 27 July, only those with brothers or relatives BEING INVESTED(not those who have brothers serving in the altar server already) can be excused from mass. those who have been rostered to serve on that day and have brothers/relavtives being invested, please tell me asap. or you could find someone to replace you and then tell me.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THOSE WITH BROTHERS/RELATIVES WHO ARE ALREADY INVESTED BUT ARE SERVING MASS ON THAT DAY ARE NOT EXCUSED FROM MASS. please take note and inform me asap if you cannot make it.
also, please inform me at least 3 days in advance if you cannot make it to serve in your respective masses. if not, please find your own replacement and tell me asap if it is less than 2 days.

Bible-Sharing on Love!

Hi All!
I would just like to share some things on the bible-sharing that we had today, 13th July.

'Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. ' 1 Corinthians 13
(This was one part of the passage we took)

Today's Bible Sharing was good! It's very interesting to hear everyone's point of view- from a young girl's, to a fellow teenager, and then yours! And I'm really glad that everyone managed to share and to open up. Wasn't expecting all of you to open so much, but I'm glad with the turn out! Thank you once again girls, for sharing so much! Its really wonderful. And remember all, everything that is shared( personal) is meant to be kept a secret!

For those who didn't turn up, I'm so sorry you missed it! It was an awesome experience!

Just a few points that were discussed, that striked me :

When asked :' What does love mean to you?

'Some very honest answers:
' When my mummy buys me ice-cream and hugs me (:'
'Being able to forgive someone even though they've hurt you'
'Putting a smile on someone's face (:'

When asked:' How do you show someone you love them/someone shows you they love you?'

'When my friend goes and buys food for me'
'Hug! Kiss!'
'When your friend goes to the locker for you'

When asked :' Do you think Jesus loves you? How do you know?'

'D-UH!'
'When he answers my prayers'
'For giving me great parents'
'Because he died on the cross for me'

How such innocent great answers can warm your heart. And I think all parents would be so glad to hear all these. Especially about the part about 'giving me great parents'! The innocent hearts of children :)

So I would honestly say this Bible-sharing session was a success! And I think everyone was touched to hear the Father's Love Letter. When I first heard it, I cried! And now it still has an effect on me! Afterall, humans are humans. We all need our reassurances, and we always want to know that at least- there's someone who will always be there for us. For anyone of you who wants to have the slides prepared or to hear the Father's Love Letter, you may go to thier website www.fathersloveletter.com if i'm not wrong. For parents, if you have not heard it, do take some time to. I'm sure even as adults, you're still children in heart! And this sweet letter would definitely warm your heart. (:

When you are brokenhearted, its when I'm closest to you.

I'm looking forward to the next Bible Sharing session! I hope all your girls enjoyed it! Thank you again Elysha's mum for the sandwiches you made for us! It was very delicious!

Dear Parents and Gift Bearers,

A huge apology for the confusion of the canteen.

The guy in charge of canteen only called us up yesterday (27/6), informing us that we aren't able to hold anything in there as they have painted the place, and it stinks. We have pushed for holding the cateen still, only outside of the canteen, and we have only recieved consent from Father Ho this morning.(28/6)

We are very very sorry about this. My hugest apologies to all parents for the huge confusion

I'm truly sorry about this and am equally upset about the whole confusion created.

My truest apologies, and I pray for your understanding.

As a result, there would be no Gift Bearers meeting this Sunday. We continue to pray for your cooperation, and we want to thank you for being a part of us, and doing the gift-bearing faithfully, and for you parents who have been very supportive!

Announcements for Canteen 29/6

Those bringing food: Please report at 7am.

We'll be having prayer preparations for GB committee at 6.30am. However, everyone of you are welcomed to join us:)

All girls are required to report at 7.20am.

Parents please suggest a price you would like to sell your food at, so as to prevent us from selling at a loss or at breaking cost. Thanks!

Those doing giftbearing on that day: Please bring an extra pair of clothes to ensure that the clothes you'd be donning for mass are clean.

Those not doing giftbearing on the day: Please also bring an extra pair of clothes if you are attending mass. However, if possible, please try to attend Sat 6pm, or Sun 6pm, as we are lacking very much in manpower.

Parents are cordially invited to join us in this fun fund-raising event! We would very much appreciate your help as we are lacking very much in manpower!

What this money would be used for: To pay for sashes, and future retreats
